Most conventions look the same
Hotel ballrooms. Mirrors on every wall. Whoever wore the loudest outfit gets looked at first. Every convention runs the same way, and the dancers who go to them keep hitting the same ceiling.
OXYGEN THE CONVENTION was built to feel like nothing else in that space. Our training happens on a custom sand surface we call THE DIRT. Every attendee wears the same black jumpsuit, so talent is the only thing anyone can see. And every dancer gets the chance to battle head-to-head in THE TANK, a format studio and commercial dancers almost never touch.
The floor is the first thing that makes you better
Every OXYGEN class takes place in a custom-built sand arena with no mirrors. Sand asks more of your stabilizer muscles than a studio floor, so it builds strength that transfers directly to every other surface you dance on.
Training on sand also lowers the chance of injury compared to a hotel ballroom floor, and it forces you to perform at your best in an environment you have never rehearsed in.
The payoff is sharper awareness, cleaner technique, and real progress in your movement that shows up when it matters.
OXYGEN brings in top industry choreographers who care about what they do and about the knowledge they hand you in class. Some of them are actively casting for real projects, and OXYGEN attendees have been booked for jobs straight out of these rooms. And every dancer gets the chance to battle head-to-head in THE TANK for a cash prize.

The first dance battle ever held in a DIRT arena
OXYGEN is bridging the gap between studio dance, professional dance, and street dance through THE TANK. Every attendee auditions for a top-16 spot to battle head-to-head.
THE TANK gives dancers who are stronger in freestyle than choreography a place to shine, and it pushes every kind of dancer further out of their comfort zone for the sake of real growth. Dancers compete head-to-head for cash prizes until one is named THE CHAMPION.
During an OXYGEN season, each attendee can win one belt. Once you win a belt, you showcase before THE TANK at a later event in that same season instead of battling again. You are free to battle again in the next season.
OXYGEN exists to open real doors
Commercial dance talent agents, scouts, and choreographers attend every OXYGEN event are looking for talent to hire. That gives you the chance to be seen and to take meetings with the people who actually book professional work.
THE TANK awards cash prizes you can put toward continuing your training wherever you choose. Select dancers earn the opportunity to train at OXYGEN for free, and in some cases to be paid to attend.
Cash prizes and full sponsorships are awarded at the end of every event.

Everyone wears the same thing for a reason
Every OXYGEN attendee receives a personalized black jumpsuit on arrival, with your name and the company you choose to represent. At a traditional convention, dancers wear whatever they please, and attention follows the outfit, and attention is not only reliant on a dancer’s talent. OXYGEN removes that entirely, so you get noticed for your level of talent and nothing else.
AN OXYGEN EXPERIENCE FOR YOUNGER DANCERS
OXYGEN prides itself on sharing the same amount of knowledge with all age groups. There is a certain age, though, where younger dancers are not able to keep up in regular OXYGEN classes. That is why we are introducing THE SANDBOX.
THE SANDBOX is three classes across the OXYGEN weekend dedicated to dancers 12 and under.
THE SANDBOX attendees will be checked in at an earlier time than regular OXYGEN attendees. Regular OXYGEN THE CONVENTION check in will commence after THE SANDBOX attendees are already checked in. During regular check in is when the first class for THE SANDBOX will commence. Depending on the event THE SANDBOX will have at minimum two more classes during an OXYGEN event.
Forged in THE DIRT
Our studio competition, rebuilt for OXYGEN THE CONVENTION. Studios select one top number from their season to enter into THE DIRT. Productions, small groups and large groups all go head-to-head in one open field for the same prize, tested on sand instead of a stage. The winning studio proves that they were forged in THE DIRT and take home THE ANVIL.
Studios that win THE FORGE set themselves as THE STANDARD for the next season of OXYGEN. The winning number showcases their number before the competition next season in their winning city and are not eligible to compete again until the next OXYGEN season.
Studios need a number with five or more dancers to compete.
