New for 2027 · The studio competition

THE FORGE

One dance per studio, one open pool, no brackets. The winning studio takes the cash and the title — and becomes the standard for their city.

One dance. One open pool.

THE FORGE is the studio competition. Each studio enters one dance, and that dance competes against the entire field in one open pool. There are no brackets by group size and no category splits, so a smaller studio's dance is judged next to everyone else's.

The winning studio takes the cash and the title, and the studio's own name goes on the result instead of a regional judge's clipboard. The winning studio becomes the standard for their city.

What the winning studio gets

THE ANVIL

The cash, the title, and THE ANVIL — proof the studio was forged in THE DIRT.

TRAIN WITH NITROGEN

The winning studio earns the opportunity to train with Nitrogen.

INDUSTRY SHOWCASE

An entry into an industry showcase — shows including Sybarite and Carnival.

BANNER PATCHES

The studio receives banner patches to carry the title home.

THE FORGE JACKET

The choreographer of the winning dance receives the FORGE jacket.

OPEN THE NEXT ONE

The winning studio opens the next competition — because they are the standard.

The champion rule

The title has to be defended, not held.

THE FORGE follows the same rule as THE TANK: the winning studio cannot win again the following season. They come back, they compete again, and they earn the standard back rather than hold it by default. It is not a lifetime trophy — it is a title defended by re-entering the fire.

The forge doesn't destroy steel. It reveals it.
